December kicks off with Canadian filmmaker  Jacqueline Castel’s My Animal which revives the queer subtext residing in most lycan legends. Opens December 1.

In celebration of his centennial year, we present Janus Films’ retrospective of Senegalese filmmaker Ousmane Sembène’s work,  including Black Girl & Borom Sarret (plays Dec 1 & 2), Mandabi (Dec 2 & 3), Guelwaar (Dec 28 & 30), and three new 4K restorations of Emitaï (Dec 8 & 9), Xala (Dec 20 & 23), and Ceddo (Dec 28 & 29).

This month’s Trash Cult Tuesdays features the gonzo cult-docs Once Upon a Time in Uganda  and GLOW: The Story of the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling.

In partnership with the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, we present Human Rights Through Film: IKWEWI-She is a Woman, produced by the Clan Mothers Healing Village, on December 6.

Kids in the Hall’s Kevin McDonald screens the beloved metal-mockumentary This is Spinal Tap on December 7.

William Oldroyd’s supremely stylish psychological thriller Eileen open December 8.

In co-presentation with Peace Alliance Winnipeg, we present Cake in the Sky (La torta in cielo) on December 9.

Our 14th Annual Gimme Some Truth Documentary Festival takes over December 13-17 with new world documentaries, premieres of local docs and the Gimme 10 in 30! Documentary Challenge!

Nic Kaneski explores Todd Haynes’ profoundly unsettling , Safe (1995), as part of their Astral Projection series on December 21.

WFG Executive Director Leslie Supnet presents Ted Kotcheff’s anxiety inducing Wake in Fright (1971) as part of our Staff Picks series on December 22.

The Holiday edition of the Saturday Morning All-You-Can-Eat-Cereal Cartoon Party returns the morning of December 23 featuring 3 hours of Christmas and winter holiday themed retro cartoons, commercials and PSAs – and all the cereal you can eat!

The Cannes Palme d’Or winner Anatomy of a Fall opens December 23.

Lastly, Olivia Norquay and Jillian Groening investigate The Blair Witch Project (1999) for Bikini Drive-In on December 29.
