November kicks off with Rumours, the latest absurdist comedy from Guy Maddin, Evan Johnson, and Galen Johnson, screening with Serve The Country by Fabián Velasco and Miloš Mitrović. Join us on November 1 for an in-person Q&A with all the filmmakers!

All The Haunts Be Ours: Folk Horror Classics continues until November 24. Featuring Beauty and The Beast (1978), Sundelbolong (1981), Suzzanna: The Queen of Black Magic (2024) and Bakeneko: A Vengeful Spirit (1968), this series of films explores the strange and magical world of spirits, revenge and forbidden desires. Please join us on November 2 for a short story reading by poet and novelist Chandra Mayor. Generously supported by the Margaret Laurence Endowment and the University of Winnipeg Women’s and Gender Studies Department.

This month’s Trash Cult Tuesdays features two films from the The Female Prisoner Scorpion cycle – Female Prisoner Scorpion: #701 and Female Prisoner Scorpion: Jailhouse 41!

The 15th Annual Gimme Some Truth Documentary Festival takes over November 6-10 with new world documentaries, local and Canadian shorts programs and the Gimme 10 in 30! Documentary Challenge! Featuring work by Kamal Aljafari, Mati Diop, Kier-La Janisse and Kevin Settee, and guest curators Stephen Broomer and Elizabeth Purchell.

The long-awaited return to fiction filmmaking from Academy Award-winner Andrea Arnold, Bird opens November 13.

McDonald at The Movies returns on November 14 with Carl Reiner’s The Man with Two Brains.

Astral Projection celebrates Sagittarius season on November 21 with Totally F***ed Up, the first film in Gregg Araki’s Teen Apocalypse Trilogy.

All We Imagine as Light, a soulful study of the transformative power of friendship and sisterhood, opens November 22.

Ti West’s MaXXXine plays November 23, presented on 35mm thanks to VVS Films and A24!

We Are Fugazi From Washington, DC, Joe Gross, Joseph Pattisall and Jeff Krulik’s crowd-sourced and fan-recorded documentary, opens November 28.

WFG’s Collections Coordinator Skye Callow introduces Donnie Darko on November 29 and 30 as part of our Staff Picks series. Presented on 35mm thanks to the American Genre Film Archive!

And finally, thrilling animated spectacle Flow opens November 29.
